Lucia Sorba honoured by the European Physical Society
Director of Istituto Nanoscienze nominated 2021 EPS Fellow by the European Physical Society in recognition of her scientific contributions.
In last 10 years physicists Lucia Sorba has been active in the field of experimental semiconductor physics and materials science, in particular on the synthesis and growth of  semiconductor nanowires by molecular beam epitaxy and chemical beam epitaxy. Today, the European Physical Society distinguished Lucia Sorba, as EPS Fellow "for her very important contributions to the conception and engineering of reliable semiconducting nanostructures, permitting the observation and control of novel hybrid excitations in condensed matter and the conception of novel semiconductor-based radiation detectors; for her many years of service to the European Physical Society as chair of the Semiconductor- and Insulator Section Board of the EPS Condensed Matter Division." EPS individual members can be elected as Fellows of the EPS upon nomination by their peers, and this year's EPS Fellows nominated were Lucia Sorba and Angel Rubio. The EPS president, Petra Rudolf, congratulated Lucia Sorba and expressed "appreciation for Lucia Sorba's work not only personally, but also on behalf of the 130 000 physicists of the EPS".
