DSQM, a CnrNano spinoff, receives the America Innovation Award for the second time
The Italy USA Foundation, which honors top Italian innovators behind startups, has awarded DSQM for its excellence in superconducting devices for quantum computing and its role in high-level research collaborations.

DSQM (Digital Superconducting Quantum Machines), an innovative startup and spinoff of the Istituto Nanoscienze (Cnr  Nano), has been awarded the America Innovation Award for the second time. The prize is granted by the Italia USA Foundation to outstanding Italian initiatives in research and entrepreneurship.

The award ceremony took place on April 22 at the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Accepting the award on behalf of DSQM were Francesco Giazotto (Research Director at Cnr Nano), Giorgio De Simoni (Researcher at Cnr Nano), and Angelo Di Bernardo (University of Salerno and associate researcher at Cnr Nano).

The award recognizes DSQM’s achievements in developing state-of-the-art superconducting devices for both quantum and classical computing. Over the past years, the company has delivered technological solutions that position it among the key players in the field at the international level.

In particular, the recognition highlights the progress made within the ICSC 4Startup project, part of the ICSC – National Centre for High-Performance Computing, Big Data, and Quantum Computing, where DSQM is developing high-performance superconducting transistors. Another important milestone was reached through the QuTest project, carried out in collaboration with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, focused on the cryogenic characterization of next-generation superconducting devices.

DSQM’s success also stems from strategic collaborations with leading institutions such as the Scuola Normale Superiore and CNR Nano, which have strengthened the scientific and technological expertise behind the startup’s devices.

“This award is a meaningful recognition of the work done by DSQM,” says Francesco Giazotto, “and shows how the synergy between public research, advanced education, and entrepreneurship can lead to global innovation.” With this new recognition, DSQM and CNR Nano further reinforce their commitment to building the quantum technologies of the future and promoting Italian scientific excellence worldwide.
