Biographical sketch

I obtained my PhD (2004) in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain. As PhD student, I worked on Mn(III) compounds as mimetic models of manganoenzymes, in the field of bioinorganic chemistry. As a postdoc, I worked on the design of new compounds for anion recognition/anion sensing and the on synthesis of molecular machines based on redox processes at the research group of Prof. Luigi Fabbrizzi (University of Pavia, Italy).
In 2007, I become researcher in the R&D division of a technological center (Anfaco-Cecopesca, Spain), where my responsibilities mainly included the management and coordination of research projects in the area of the valorization of the sea subproducts.
A renewed interest for fundamental investigation yielded me to join, in 2009, Prof. Andrea Cornia at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia to work in the field of molecular spintronics. My research assignment included the design, synthesis and structural investigation of chemically functionalized Fe(III)-based single-molecule magnets for their deposition on gold surfaces.
In 2014, I moved to the Ionic Liquids Group of the University of Pisa to work in a project supported by ENI on the use of ionic liquids for the dissolution of biopolymers. Since 2018 I'm technologist at the Istituto Nanoscienze-CNR in Pisa.
I coauthored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 16) in high impact journals (JCR), generating more than 700 citations. I have presented oral/poster contributions to more than 40 national and international conferences, and I have been involved in more than 22 research projects, within public and private funding.
