Pisa - 21.10.2020 - Cnr-Nano's DSQM project awarded at the Start Cup Toscana
The innovative project developed by the SQEL CnrNano research team called Digital Superconducting Quantum Machines (DSQM), awarded third place at the Start Cup Toscana.

The final session of the Start Cup Toscana 2020, an initiative that rewards the best innovative ideas born in the world of university research, took place on Oct.16 at the IMT Alti Studi Lucca School. Among the ten finalist projects presented, DSQM competed for the Energy and Industrial.

DSQM is concerned with the development of ultra-fast and low-energy superconducting circuits. This new frontier of Information Technology will contribute to the development of supercomputers 100 times faster than the current ones and to the 6G revolution. The project was developed by Francesco Giazotto, Giorgio De Simoni, Elia Strambini, Federico Paolucci of CnrNano together with Claudio Puglia (UniPisa PhD student), Simone Gasparinetti (University of Chalmers) and Angelo Di Bernardo (University of Costanza). The technology of the DSQM project is based on the possibility of modifying the electric current flowing in a superconductor through the application of an electric field developed at the Superconducting Quantum Electronics Labs of Cnr-Nano, at the NEST laboratory.

The project team received a cash prize and the opportunity to participate in the "National Award for Innovation", which will take place online on November 30 and on December 4 at the University of Bologna.
The other Start Cup Toscana 2020 awarded project are: WEARnCARE by Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (first place) and Hexagon Warlords by the University of Florence.
