Matteo D’Alessio

Short Bio

I graduated in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Trieste in 2022. Since my master’s thesis I have been working with numerical simulations to study electronic properties of materials, using both first-principles methods and model approaches. During my PhD I focused on the study of excitonic properties of WTe2: this is one of the most promising materials for the realization of the excitonic insulator phase, a long-sought and elusive effect of fundamental interest in Condensed Matter.

Research Interests

Ab initio DFT and many-body perturbation theory for materials science.
