Marco Affronte

Short Bio

Marco Affronte is Full Professor of Physics at University of Modena e Reggio Emilia (I) and associate researcher at Institute of Nanosciences of CNR. After graduating in Physics (with full marks with honours, Università di Firenze, 1987), he obtained his Ph.D. at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (CH) in 1991 and worked at CNRS in Grenoble (F) in 1992 with an individual Post Doc Marie Curie Fellowship.

Since 1993, he is at University of Modena where he set up and currently runs a laboratory for low temperature experiments. He worked on superconductivity, nanomagnetism, electronic transport in granular and semiconducting materials. His interests are now focused on NanoSciences and Quantum Technologies, in particular quantum effects on molecular spins, spintronics, graphene, quantum dots and on development of nano-devices and quantum detectors.

M. Affronte participated at different National and International Projects and he coordinated –among others- the EU FET projects MolSpinQIP (2008-11) and MoQuaS (2014-16).

He serves as reviewer for several International scientific Journals and Agencies. He has published more than 215 articles in International Journals, with H-index=43 (WoS).
