On January 21 and 22, in collaboration with Cnr Nano and Biblioteche Comunali di Modena (Municipal Libraries of Modena), the Associazione Donne e Scienza (Women and Science) organizes its annual conference dedicated to the theme "Women, Research, Transformations". The event will be held in Modena at the Civic Library Antonio Delfini (Palazzo Santa Margherita, Corso Canalgrande 103) and will address with interventions and discussions the important changes in the relationship between women, research, and society and the many implications that result. The conference will be attended by special guests such as Maria Cristina Messa, Minister of the University and Research, and the Nobel Prize in Physics Giorgio Parisi.

Associazione Donne e Scienza is a non-profit cultural organisation that gathers female scientists working in Higher Education Institutions and Public Research Organisations in Italy.  Associazione Donne e Scienza promotes women’s participation in scientific research to contribute and generate debate on contemporary science with a gender perspective.

The conference tackles very topical issues with ample space for discussion: on the morning of January 21, Minister Maria Cristina Messa, Elisa Molinari from University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and Cnr Nano, and the Nobel laureate Giorgio Parisi will take part in a roundtable on recent research policies. A session on gender specificities in research areas such as artificial intelligence, medicine or environmental research will follow. Conference will close on 22 January with a morning session involving various associations active on science and gender issues with the aim of "networking" and defining perspectives for common commitment.

Side activities will complete the event: the play "Rosalind's Glasses", a one-act dedicated to the scientist Rosalind Franklin, created by the L’aquila Signorina / Terza Decade Company will take place on Saturday January 22, 5.30 pm at the Civic Library Antonio Delfini; and a rich list of readings for adults and children will be displayed at the Delfini library for general public this month (by Biblioteche Comunali di Modena).

The event will be hosted on-site by the Delfini, with the possibility of participation also online, registering from the website of the conference donnescienza2022.nano.cnr.it. For on-site participation, both reinforced Green pass and ffp2 mask are requested.

The event is organized by the Women and Science Association with the collaboration of the Municipal Libraries of Modena and the Nanoscience Institute of the Cnr of Modena (Cnr-Nano) and with the patronage, among others, of the Municipality of Modena and the University of Modena and Reggio. Emilia (Unimore).
