The Instituto nanoscienze is proud to announce the inauguration of SPEQTEM (Spectroscopic Quantum Transmission Electron Microscope), a state-of-the-art facility for advanced electron microscopy and quantum control.

SPEQTEM, equipped with a monochromator, energy filter, and advanced tools for electron beam shaping, sets new standards in atomic-resolution imaging, enabling groundbreaking studies of coherent excitations and internal electromagnetic fields within materials. Funded through the IEntrance, NQSTI, Smartelectron, and Impress initiatives, and jointly managed by Cnr Nano and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, SPEQTEM aims to establish itself as a leading center for spectroscopy and quantum-based microscopy.

The inaugural event will take place in the morning in the presence of the President of the National Research Council (CNR) Maria Chiara Carrozza, representatives of Unimore, Thermo Fischer Scientific and local civil authorities.

The celebration will continue in the afternoon with the Symposium  'TEM Science, Present and Future', featuring distinguished speakers: Marco Beleggia (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), Rafal Dunin-Borkowski (Forschungszentrum, Jülich), Vincenzo Grillo (Cnr Nano), Ebrahim Karimi (University of Ottawa ), Ido Kaminer (Technion), Eva Olsson (Chalmers University of Technology), Peter Tiemeijer (Thermo Fisher Scientific).
