Frontiers in Simulation of Photoresponsive Biological Systems

The CECAM Flagship Workshop will be held from July 7, 2025 to July 10, 2025, at the University of Siena, Polo San Francesco. 

This event will bring together leading experts exploring photoreceptor proteins, excited state properties of biological matter, and charge transfer processes. A unique opportunity to dive into the latest advancements and future challenges in this fascinating interdisciplinary field.

Specific open issues will encompass:

• Interplay between the photoexcitation and the environment conformational rearrangements
• Treatment of reaction events occurring out of equilibrium
• Investigation of the reaction path at the molecular level 
• Cutting-edge applications in relevant fields
• Latest advances in the experimental probing of photoresponsive biomolecules

The program will consist of 7 half-day sessions, totaling 3.5 days, starting on the morning of Monday, July 7, and concluding at lunchtime on Thursday, July 10. The workshop is sponsored by Psi-k, CECAM-IT-SIMUL, CECAM-ISR and the University of L'Aquila.
