Cnr Nano in Pisa offers a series of informative seminars in schools across Tuscany, focusing on the research topics addressed by some of the institute's researchers. Specifically, these seminars cover biomaterials and their applications in the field of life sciences, nanotechnology and nano/micro-fabrication techniques, quantum technologies, as well as simulations and supercomputing at the nanoscale. These seminars are organized in collaboration with the Regional School Office of Tuscany.

The aim of these meetings is to introduce students to STEM disciplines, connecting them with the science "that is done every day in the lab," highlighting the links between scientific research and the objects that are around us, enabling communication, healthcare, energy saving, and more. Nanoscience is also an interdisciplinary subject suitable for highlighting how fields that are usually separated - such as physics, chemistry, biology - are instead deeply connected and converge at the nanometre scale.

These seminars are part of the CNR Centenary Programme. On the occasion of the celebration of its centenary, in fact, the National Research Council has proposed a rich programme of initiatives that recount the plurality of the organisation, involving the entire community of scientists and the entire Scientific Network of institutes.

The researchers in these meetings will also take the opportunity to explain what the CNR is and what it does, with the aim of introducing students to Italy's leading research organisation and its ability to contribute to the country's scientific and cultural progress.

Seminars will be held online and on-site, with the following schedule:

-  May 18th, the seminar "Natural and artificial biomaterials for biomedical and environmental applications" by Antonella Battisti (CNR-Nano researcher), at the Istituto Comprensivo Micheli-Bolognesi in Livorno.

-   May 25, in Massa, at the Liceo Scientifico Statale "Enrico Fermi", the seminar 'The nano-world inside us' (Il nanomodo dentro di noi), curated by Ilaria Tonazzini (CNR-Nano researcher).

-  May 25, in Livorno, the meeting 'Bio-medicine in silico' will be held by Valentina Tozzini (CNR-Nano researcher).
