Empowering voices on International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On 11 February, the social campaign #womenatCNR relaunches a choral message of inspiration and encouragement for the women and girls in science of today and tomorrow

11th February 2024 #womenscienceday!

On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, promoted by the UN and celebrated simultaneously worldwide on February 11th, the social campaign #womenatCNR launches a collective message about female participation in science, marking the conclusion of its intense journey.

Launched in 2022 and expanded with the enthusiastic involvement of over 300 women from 20 different Institutes until 2023, #womenatCNR has crafted a visually engaging narrative. It leveraged major social platforms, allowing researchers, technologists, fellows, and research support staff from the organization to share their commitment to science.

Their voices, represented in a mosaic of words unveiled on February 11th, come together in a message of good wishes and encouragement for the women and girls in science of today and tomorrow. These keywords, thoughtfully chosen by women from the involved Institutes to represent what is crucial for them in tackling scientific activities, will serve as a small "toolbox" of ideas sharing women's experiences, offering inspiration and advice for others, in particular girls dreaming of becoming scientists.

Cnr Nano pioneered and championed the #womenatCNR campaign, with twenty-seven of its talented researchers who actively participated, and contributed to compose this choral message. The words of wisdom collecting the learnings and advice by Cnr Nano'reserachers are openmindness, curiosity and perseverance. These words join those chosen by the other #womenatCNR to compose an intense and vibrant word board.

The 11 February celebration, therefore, is an opportunity to launch this content and conclude a project that has highlighted an inclusive and vibrant community. The #womenatCNR campaign is one of the initiatives undertaken by CNR to support and promote gender equality in scientific research. It contributes to showcasing female skills and encourages girls to envision themselves as future leaders.
