A taste of the celebration

It was great to celebrate with you, thanks for the support and warmth you showed us!

Cnr Nano S3 Research Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary and invites staff, colleagues, students, alumni, and friends to a 2-day gathering.
There are so many people and achievements to celebrate together. We have come a long way since 2002, when all began: from an INFM Centre of Excellence to a unit of Cnr Istituto Nanoscienze (Cnr Nano), we grew an institution rooted in the territory as well as open to Europe. Though we have achieved many milestones in these two decades, many significant scientific results, we like to think that Cnr Nano S3 itself, the community, and the collaborations we have built are our most significant and valuable outcome.

To express gratitude for all this, and to cast a glance at the future, we are organizing an event on June 8-9, 2023, at our Centre. Greetings from alumni and collaborators, a series of lectures from Cnr Nano researchers on frontier topics, social moments will fill the two joyful days.

We would love to have you with us.

How to reach Modena

• By Plane

The closest airport to Modena is Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ).

The “Aerbus” service connects the Bologna Airport with the center of Modena (a fifty-minute ride). Aerbus timetable from Bologna Airport to Modena.

The Marconi Express monorail connects Bologna Airport to the Bologna train station in seven minutes. Frequent trains for Modena depart from there.

Tipically a taxi fare from Bologna airport to Modena costs €70-80.  

• By Train

The Modena train station is in Piazza Dante Alighieri and serves the Milan-Bologna line.

• Getting to the Physics building (FIM) from the train station

The train station is 8 km from the Physics building (FIM).

The Number 4 bus (marked Galilei/Latina) reaches the FIM in twenty-two minutes (get off at the Vignolese bivio Campi stop) then walk for seven minutes.
The Number 7 bus (marked Policlinico/Gottardi) arrives at the FIM in twenty-eight minutes (Gottardi bivio Araldi stop) then walk for three minutes.

As you leave the station, a taxi stand is located on the right side of Piazza Dante.

There are two luggage-storage offices nearby the station.  

• By Car

Modena is easily reached via two exits on the A1 Highway: the Modena Nord exit (five kilometers from the city center) and the Modena Sud exit (ten kilometers from the city center).

The A22 Brennero Highway also ends in Modena.
