Biographical sketch
He graduated in Physics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1998, with a mark of 110 / 110 cum laude. In 2002 he obtained the PhD in Physics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, under the supervision of Prof. Elisa Molinari. He spent a two-years postdoc in the group of Prof. Carlos Tejedor, at the Universidad Autonoma of Madrid. In the period 2008-2011 he has been visiting several times the group of Prof. Daniel Loss at the University of Basel. He's currently permanent Researcher at S3 Istituto Nanoscienze-CNR.
His scientific activity has been mainly focused on: (i) modelling and simulated dynamics of semiconductor low-dimensional systems (quantum dots), mostly in relation to their use as quantum-information devices (exciton qubits, sources of non-classical radiation); (ii) theoretical investigation of quantum phenomena (decoherence, entanglement) in molecular nanomagnets and development of schemes for encoding and manipulating quantum information in these systems.
He has co-authored about 50 scientific contributions, among papers on international journals and book chapters (see "Info").
He has collaborated to several scientific projects, both national and international.
